I was wondering where the best place is to find torque specs. A downloadable repair manual would be the best, merely let me know your opinions please.
Specifically, I accept a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix (3.8L) that I'm looking for right now. I would like to know the torque specs for everything to do a brake pad/rotor replacement.
Autozone has some specs on their site but it turns out they don't have the numbers I'k looking for.
Cheers!

Whatsoever repair manual specific to your vehicle (Chilton's, Haynes, Motor, Manufactory manual, etc.)
You tin can observe them at about parts stores, you can check them out at your public library, you can find them on eBay and sometimes on craigslist, and you can download a pdf file from the internet, frequently free!
When was the final time the calibration of your torque wrench was checked?

The MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE provides this information in what is called a "Factory Service Manual"! (A mill service manual volition be for ane specific vehicle and can exist 2000 pages long. It has information for servicing everything on the vehicle.)

You tin go the manufacturing plant service manual (or "service information" [SI]) at y'all dealer's parts section. Newer versions are on DVD or online. Be aware that older versions might be in four dissever books total, and so be sure to order all books.

That same information is available online (for a fee) at alldatadiy.com as mentioned above.

For products other than automobiles, the manufacturers of those products provide service information in a "service transmission". (Like a fridge or air conditioner.)

Crawly, thanks!
$200 is a little steep for a broke college student similar me. I want to get one of the $20 ones mentioned in a higher place simply the biggest problem I have is that I can't detect a Haynes/Chilton/etc... for my car. They only go to the year 2007 and I have a 2008 (the last year the GP was made).
Do you recall this manualis close enough? It's equally good equally it gets on the internet that I have found.

Do you call back this manualis close enough? It'southward as expert as it gets on the internet that I have found.

The Haynes manuals are not nearly as cohesive as the factory manual ready. But, if you click on the used options, you can get 1 nether $5 plus shipping with your link. That'southward probably worth owning for yous. There will be a expert corporeality of base information in there and fits your upkeep. Y'all tin can probably sit downward with it and learn alot well-nigh your car anyway.
Won't accept all the advanced information in information technology, merely every bit a college educatee (no offense intended in this) y'all probably don't have the tools, or feel, or developed skillset all the same for advanced manual, driveability, electric diagnosis and repair anyhow.

Good luck
